I recently got terminated from my job and one reason being was I stopped tolerating illegal drug use on the workvans at Lin Jarrett Heating and Cooling in Petersburg VA. I got threatened repeatedly by employess after i asked the illegal drug activities not be done around me on the job and in the workvan. One instance an employee cut off the tip of his finger on the job and failed his drug screen for workers comp. and the next day his marijuana bowl was left on the dashboard of the van for ME to catch a charge over. He was valuably kept employed and recieved no reproccusions or rehabilitation for this, which should have been done, at least a rehab clinic. Prior to this the employees kept smoking pot in the van i was driving and laughed when i asked him to stop. He then told me he would beat my ass when i turned the van around and took him back to the shop. He tried refusing to work with me and would drive his car to jobs if i was driving a company truck. Employees refused to work with me after the request to stop the dope smoking was made by me. Jamie Grissom, the second in command told me i held the job up that day and should have kept going to the job instead of turn around and bring the employees back to the shop. This cost the company money and held up progress, as i should have taken the risk of being arrested to make the company money and keep progress rolling. The secretary, Lin Jarretts wife explained "we know the ones who do it but there's nothing we can do about it". The other secretary, Lin Jarretts daughter, kindly said I did the right thing. Another case, I was riding with an employee and a joint was in the ashtray, and i was told "i'm going to smoke this at my house and not do it in front of you, as i was thinking I'll just be the subject of an impaired driver,hmmmm. 2 of the workers were caught by a customer smoking dope in the workvan at a customers house, which neither recived any reprocussions for. My problem is I was never given a chance to learn heating and cooling here, as other guys were sent to classes and recieved certifications. I was always picking trash up out of the yard or vacuuming a dirty shop when i could have been learning a skill here. So now i am left jobless and am searching for employment, and had Lin Jarrett lie to unemployment and tell them i was not doing my job. The events prior to this "wrongful" termination, the guys turning against me due to me not allowing drug use on the job, caused tension and he had to let Me, the problem,go. One other reason i was let go is because i got angry when employees threw chicken sandwiches at my face while i was driving the company van, and threatened to hit me with their fist drawn back in my face. Why wouyld an employee have an attitude when he gets treated like this by other "coworkers?" Lin didnt understand it. Another employee was ill trained and put in a used oil furncae, in which the fire dept. was called because the "wiring" for a limit switch had been bipassed.
