The University Minneapolis in Minnesota has some of the best eating, drinking and event venues in the country, with many places very affordable and some even within walking distance of popular lodging. If you are looking for great entertainment while in the city, make sure you check out First Avenue and 7th Street music venue. This is the venue where the musician Prince filmed the movie Purple Rain in the 1980's. The First Avenue and 7th is an excellent spot to see current musical acts at great prices. If you decide to go, keep in mind that the venue is non-smoking and the drinks can get a bit pricey. Looking for a great place to eat? Make sure you check out The Butcher Block restaurant and bar, located in the thriving northeast section of the city. This organic restaurant serves grass feed beef and twenty nine varieties of chicken wings in a clean and minimally furnished space. Another great option is Sauce, Spirits and Soundbar, also located in this area. This restaurant, bar and musical venue offers an overall polished look with their great selection of pizza, pasta, and drinks. Donnie Dirk's Zombie Den is a must see if you are looking for a fun time after dark. The old Victorian chandeliers pared with the deer heads and tiger stripe carpet make for an interesting and alluring atmosphere. If you do go, make sure you order a Weird Science-you get your choice of eight different ingredients!
